The most offensive children’s toy ever made? This might be it.
I guess kids are never too young to teach them that God is ready to smite them with military-grade weapons.
I’m hoping this was just a joke and never made it to the market. Whether it was real or a joke, this toy still lines up with the religious ideology of too many people.
Instead, may we remember Psalm 103:
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.”
This evening, may you be reminded of the truth that God is compassionate and gracious!
Ben

If you take genesis account of earths creation quite literally that god created the world in 6 days, combined with this idiotic toy that begs just 1 question: Why does god need a gun at all?
Given the cost of “Life.soul” and the brand of “Jesus Christ Superstore,” I’m going to take this as a joke toy intentionally meant to embody the terrible things about imperial Christianity.
Benjamin…..your quote, could you give the Chapter and verse?
Psalm 103:8-10
Well, if Irish Atheist says s/he owns one, I won’t question that. Prior to seeing that comment, I was going to say that it’s from a fake site called Jesus Christ Superstore, which I thought was a parody site pseudo-marketing stuff in parody of Christianity, not unlike the Hanover Baptist web site on which all of the participants pretend to be arch-fundamentalists.
The same people have also made parodies of other religious figures (Buddha with a “combat staff of meditation” comes to mind), I thought that they were all just jokes, rather than actual physical toys.
Unless I’m completely wrong, it’s not from a Christian group at all. But if the thing exists as a physical toy, then I’m already wrong on that count.
I hope this toy DID make it to market. I would further help the growing trend of getting people to ignore “God Talk”.
For every wonderful, compassionate OT verse you can quote, there are absolutely horrible ones too. This toy helps remind people of that nonsense. Running to a book for quotes is all part of the “God Talk” that hopefully people will continue to ignore.
Yes it’s real. I own one.
Did you see it in a store or buy it online?
A fellow atheist got it for me from a novelty toy shop in Chicago called ‘Pumpkin Moon.’ It’s been in storage for the past few months so I’ll have to dig it out to verify that it’s the same model. It’s Yahweh with an automatic weapon at any rate, and how many of those do you come across?
I also have the Jesus Christ action figure with Walk-On-Water action.
I imagine it’s part of their Poe’s Law series of toys.
I hope it’s real, because I want one.
